Memorial Day Ceremonies

The Pack 24 cub scouts have been invited to participate in two separate Memorial Day programs to honor all veterans.  If your scout is available to participate in either of these ceremonies, they should wear full “class A” uniform with neckerchief and slide.  Hats are optional but appropriate.

US FlagVillage of Riverside:  At 10:00am on Monday, May 27th the Village will have a ceremony in Guthrie Park in downtown Riverside.  During the ceremony, the cub scouts are invited to serve as the honor guard to form a cordon when a wreath is run from the park and placed in the nearby Des Plaines River.  Scouts and parents are asked to stay after the ceremony to help move the folding chairs back into vehicles so the chairs can be returned to storage.  Parent help would be appreciated setting up chairs in Guthrie at 7:30am.

Central School:  Any Pack 24 scout that attends Central is welcomed to participate in a program this Friday morning (May 24).  Scouts should go to their class room first, but will then be granted permission to go outside early to the flag pole to prepare for Central’s Memorial Day Service.  Scouts should look for Mr. Pacourek who will be coordinating the boys and reading a short poem of dedication.  After the serivce, scouts will return to their school with the rest of their classmates.
