While Santa’s little elves have been working overtime to make toys and other delights for our scouts, so too have the Pack 24 leaders been planning all kinds of fun activities. Registration is now open for two outings in January:
Polar Prowl, Saturday, January 12; begins at 9am and ends at 1pm. These winter games and activities are sponsored by the Des Plaines Valley Council, so hundreds of cub scouts from across the area will be on hand to have some winter fun. Some of the highlights include: sledding, winter sports game, nature hikes, outdoor fires for warming up and roasting marshmallows. Of course, each scout that attends will receive an awesome patch. One of the traditions is that each scout and parent brings along a can of non-cream soup, and they are all combined and cooked together to make a special scout stew. To encourage participation, Pack 24 is going to pay the $5 cost for each scout to attend, parents are $3 each. Click here to register today, and note the deadline imposed by the DPVC is Friday, January 4. Also, due to the relatively small dollars involved for the parental registration, only PayPal payments are accepted for this event. Chicago Steel Hockey Game, Sunday, January 27th. The Steel will be hosting the Muskegon Lumberjacks for a 3pm tip-off. However, be sure to arrive early since Pack 24 will be the color guard for the national anthem that will precede the game. This event is open to the entire family, and is a lot of fun for the scouts and siblings since they usually get right up on the glass to watch the game. The various ticket options are very economical as well, and each scout that participates will receive a patch to commemorate the event. Click here to register, the deadline for payment is the Pinewood Derby on January 19.
There are only six openings available for the Adler Overnight on March 15, so we’ve extended the registration deadline to December 31. Click here for additional details or here to register. Yes, school-aged siblings are permitted to join this event.
In the meantime, keep working on those cars for the Pinewood Derby on January 19. The full derby rules and related FAQ can be found here: Pinewood Derby Rules for Pack 24.
