The Pack 24 leadership is planning an active January. Make sure you have marked your calendars for these fun events:
- Polar Prowl: The morning of Saturday, January 12 – This event is sponsored by the Des Plaines Valley Council, so there will be hundreds of scouts from across the area on hand. Some of the activities include sledding (weather permitting), winter sports, and snacks like soup and hot chocolate to keep the scouts warm. Pack 24 will keep up our tradition of going on an winter nature hike. To encourage participation, this year the pack will cover the registration fee for all scouts that attend.
- Pinewood Derby: Saturday, January 19– Our most popular event of the year, last year nearly every scout participated. Dens will likely organize a meeting or two so scouts can get the basics of design and crafting of cars. Check in begins at 10am and ends at noon. Racing begins at 1pm. We will have special design awards for the following categories:
- Most scout-like
- Fastest-looking
- Funniest
- Coolest Design
- Chicago Steel Hockey: Sunday, January 27 – As the NHL lockout grinds on, why not enjoy the next best thing? Tip off against Muskegon is at 3pm in the Steel’s ice rink in Bensenville, IL. Be sure to arrive early though since Pack 24 will serve as the color guard for the National Anthem.
Registrations for the Polar Prowl and Chicago Steel will occur soon. Be sure to come to the Pack Meeting on Tuesday, December 11 at 7pm at RPC to pick up your Pinewood Derby Car.
There are just a few spots remaining for the Adler Planetarium Overnight on March 15, so click here to register ASAP. Bring your Astro Overnight payment to the Pack meeting to ensure your scout has a spot for this fun event, and yes siblings are permitted to attend as well.
