2023 Eagle Cave Overnight

After many years since our last visit, Pack 24 is pleased to announce an Overnight trip to Eagle Cave in Wisconsin!  Join us for this amazing trip early Saturday morning December 2nd through Sunday, December 3rd, 2023.

You and your Scout will have a chance to explore the largest onyx cave in Wisconsin with over 3,000 feet of passageways over four levels of the cave.  It’s so extensive, that the folks at the Eagle Cave don’t think that Scouts can visit every part of the cave in one weekend, plus there are many other fun activities for the Scouts, including:

The pack will actually sleep in the cave, which is advertised as a comfortable 52 degrees year-round.

This adventure may be best for 2nd-5th graders. However, since each parent knows their own children’s readiness best, registration is open to all Pack 24 Cub Scouts.  Registration closes on November 14th or when all 35 spots are filled.

The cost will be $65 per Scout, adult or sibling.  The cost includes hearty meals to keep up our energy for cave exploring and other activities.

Eagle Cave is in Blue River, Wisconsin, which is west of Madison and about four hours away from Riverside.  As the event draws closer, we hope to organize carpools so families can share a ride.

Additional activities available are the Golden Nugget Trail competition, bingo, a community fire (with s’more kits available for purchase), fishing and more!

Our Pack will be sleeping on a hard surface near the front of the cave. If you choose to bring a tent, only a two-person tent is allowed for two people and a maximum four-person tent for 3-4 people since it is a crowded space and tents will be side by side. If your tent is too large, you will be asked to take it down. A tent is not required. Ear plugs and sleep masks are encouraged since the lights stay on and the sound does carry.

Given the sleeping arrangements, all adults attending this campout will need to have completed Youth Protection Training (YPT).  Once completed, please email a copy of your certificate to pack24riverside@gmail.com The free training can be found at https://my.scouting.org/

Cabin rentals may be available for those not camping in the cave.  Contact Eagle Cave for details

Be a REAL Spelunker for the weekend!
