As mentioned by Mike Murphy at our pack meeting on Tuesday, Tom Sisulak is once again holding a “1,000 Tree Seed Planting Day.” This year, it’s Saturday November 13, starting around 10:30 AM at Riverside United Methodist Church (located at 82 Woodside, across from Hauser.)

Tom Sisulak’s faith inspired him to begin “The 1,000 Tree Planting Project” to gather volunteers to plant a thousand seedlings in the forested areas near the river. Last year 1,000 seeds were planted in less than three hours.

Participants are reminded to wear warm clothes, boots, hat, and gloves in case of cold weather. Prepare for rain too if the forecast calls for it.

Some feedback from participants in prior years:

I’m hoping they had fun, learned a little about the environment, and I hope these trees are here when they grow up,” remarked Jane Murphy.

I think they learned about nature and about doing a good deed,” added Dan Gmitro…
