Volunteer Opportunities This Week

We have a couple things going on this week and our community needs our help.

1. On Wednesday July 7, RPC needs our help working outdoors, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. They need help beautifying the grounds of the church before the Strawberry Social, which is next week. The work will involve hauling and spreading mulch, weeding, and generally cleaning up the grounds before next week. If you can help any time between 6:00 and 8:00 on Wednesday, please . Boys will need adult supervision, so if you can stay and help with your scout, that is appreciated as well. If you have any questions, please let me know.

2. On Thursday July 8, the Riverside Chamber of Commerce is having the second Cruise Night of the year. We sold hot dogs, chips and lemonade at the last Cruise Night and had a lot of fun. This week, we’re still selling hot dogs and chips, but instead of powdered mix lemonade, we’re going to be fresh squeezing it, just like we did after the parade. So, if you haven’t gotten your fill of squeezing and selling lemonade, please join us Thursday night. We have a need for squeezers, grillers, servers and cashiers. If you can volunteer some time, please sign up online.

3. Finally, on Friday July 9, the American Cancer Society Relay for Life in Brookfield is in need of a color guard for the beginning of their overnight. This requires scouts in uniform be at Jaycee Ehlert Park by 5:30PM on Friday July 9. Art Perry and myself will be there with our scouts, but if you would like to join us for the color guard at the beginning of their event, please .

Thank you and I hope you’re having a great summer.

p.s. be sure to mark July 25 on your calendar. It’s the Pack 24 picnic at National Grove #2 in North Riverside (29th and Desplaines Ave, basically.) More details to follow. Start saving 1 and 2 liter pop bottles now, for bottle rockets.
