Roasting marshmallowsWe learned at our pack meeting on March 9 that the Des Plaines Valley council has a number of summer camping opportunities available. Here’s a summary of what is available:
Camp Shin Go Beek (near Waupaca Wisconsin)
We’re encouraging members of our pack who would like to experience Shin Go Beek to attend Wednesday – Sunday, June 27 – June 30. There are three other sessions available, but sometimes it’s nice to camp with people you know. If you’re unable to attend on these dates, please feel free to register for whatever schedule works best for you. All the dates are listed at the Des Plaines Valley Council website.
4 day/3 night camp
All meals prepared for you
Clean, modern, hot showers and flush toilets
Bring your own tent or borrow one of theirs
$190 per person
Weekend in Illinois (Rochelle Illinois)
We’ve penciled in July 10 & 11 for our recommended weekend. If you would like to go at the same time as other scouts from Pack 24, this is the weekend to go. If this date doesn’t work for you, please refer to the Des Plaines Valley website for additional date opportunities.
This is a great outing for Tigers, first time campers, or anyone who just wants to spend one night camping rather than three.

Voyageur Trace Day Camp (Bedford Park Illinois)
This is a two-day, day camp at the Bedford Park Park District
The original dates were Friday/Saturday August 6 & 7
Cost was $40 (last I heard)
Pack a lunch for your scout and send it along with him
